Great overall, but too large of a dive master to diver ratio (1:11).
We originally booked the JP Marina, but due to a full charter we’re switched to the Sea Pearl. The Sea Pearl boat was great and actually an upgraded boat, however, they only sent 1 dive guide for 11 people which was difficult to dive as such a large group and oceanic white tip exit to zodiac requirements. It cut our dives short having such a large group. Typically JP Marine has at least 3/4 dive guides for the boat. The dive guide was great, but we needed 1 more for 11 persons.

Pretty good diving with typical Egyptian frustrations (delayed departures and deferred maintenance)
Checking off three new species of sharks for me: threshers, scalloped hammerheads, and longimanus!

Happy to have gone as my 86 year old dive buddy hadn't been there before.
Dolphin House snorkeling where there were over 3 dozen spinners dolphins for at least 30 minutes. Dive at Daedalus where we spotted 12 scalloped hammerheads, several of them swimming back in our directions. I made all dives, including three night dives, finding a Spanish dancer on each of the night dives. Transportation to/from boat was efficient and comfortable. On the negative side: Not in control of the boat, but there are too many Liveaboards at dive sites. In room showers closer to bow never got hot water.

One of the dive sites was so breathtaking that it is perhaps my all-time favorite dive.
Diving, sealife, yummy food.

Not at Happy
A few of the dive sights were very nice but the boat itself was in serious need of maintenance. I was a professional boat captain for 25 years so have spent a lot of time at sea. Most all the air-condition units were broken down on the boat when we arrived. Most of the guest were either forced to sleep on deck or one benches in the main salon if they wanted any relief from the heat. The one cabin unit that was working was barely working and was turned off frequently. One generator blew out heavy engine oil continuously while running, the other light fuel oil. Makes you wonder what the condition of the dive compressor might have been? The list of complaints go on from there.

Fantastic Crew, Boat and Dive Sites
1. Manta ray and hammerheads were no problem. Found lots on some of the best dive sites. 2. The crew and the dive guide were outstanding. Even dealt with some health issues that were totally unrelated to diving in amazing ways. Terrific people. 3. The boat was very nice and very comfortable. I am sure you could pay more but I am not sure what else you would get that could make it better.

A fantastic, safe, and unforgettable experience with exceptional dives, food, and company!
I have absolutely no complaints. The food, staff, dive guides, facilities, dive gear, safety, and dives themselves were all exceptional. Dives: Every day we had the option of at least 3 or 4 dives. We even got a really fun night dive in! The dives themselves were fantastic—we saw a whale shark, oceanic white tip sharks, sea turtles, reef shark, sea horse, Spanish dancers, and tons of beautiful and colorful fish. The dives were diverse and interesting, a mix of beautiful reefs, blue water dives searching for sharks, night dive, and exploring caves, wrecks, and a gorgeous coral garden. No hammerheads, but our guides tried everything for the best chance. Staff: Sergio and Tori were our dive guides and both were awesome—I always felt very safe and comfortable with them. Sergio made sure we never strayed too far from the reef. I hired a private guide (Tori) for myself because I’m not as experienced as the other divers, and it was really great! We had some very amazing and private encounters with the marine life that was worth the extra money and peace of mind having someone watching out for me. The boat staff were so helpful with all the gear and expert at picking us up from dives and finding us after a drift—I don’t know how they do it! Shoutout to Ghandi who always made me so excited before a dive and welcomed me back on to the boat after the dive. Mickey in the dining room was awesome at serving us also :) Gear: I never had a problem with any of the dive gear I rented and used—everything was in great shape. Food: the food was SO delicious! Always lots of options and desserts, and tasty snacks from the kitchen between dives—we never went hungry. Complimentary tea, coffee, water, sodas, and snacks 24 hours. Facilities: my room was everything I needed. Clean with good storage space, cabinets, standard ship bathroom. Air conditioner worked great. The lounge area and sun deck upstairs with lots of couches and bean bags were very comfortable. We even had a fun disco dance party 2 night with DJ Sergio’s music and disco lights! Thank you so much to the JP Marine crew for a fantastic first Liveaboard experience for me <3 I will never forget it!
