Major disappointment - would not recommend this operation
Overall this was a very average liveaboard experience. The crew were fantastic and provided amazing service, cleaning the rooms multiple times daily and providing freshly laundered towels and hot beverages after every dive. However, the trip director showed much less care in the guest experience, not even bothering to follow up when I inquired about an AOW certification that had been requested and confirmed via email by liveaboard.com prior to the trip, but which he did not have record of and therefore subsequently did not provide. After looking into it with his back office folks, he didn't even have the courtesy to follow up to tell me that they would not be offering it - I had to follow up personally otherwise he would have never bothered to tell me. Additionally, on Day 4 on the boat I got severe food poisoning and was bed ridden for 24 hours (and unwell but able to stand for another 24 hours after that). After severe diarrhea and vomiting for 10 hours, we called him for some help and when I asked for suggestions on how to purge the remaining poison in my system, he sarcastically said that I could eat more of the food that made me sick. Extremely tone deaf given that it was his operation that made me sick and that I was on the floor writhing in pain.

Simply the best boat!!
This was my second trip on Blue Manta. I was on the boat in Komodo and just got back from Raja Ampat. This is the best liveaboard I’ve been on. It’s huge and very stable. The service was unbelievable and everyone from the cruise director to the dive masters and chefs went out of their way to give the best service. The rooms are huge, food was awesome and the diving was incredible. I can’t wait to get back on this boat.

An amazing experience on an really well run live aboard.
This was an amazing experience all around. We saw only a few of the musts for us (i.e., Manta and Hammerhead), but we missed the main hammerhead season. The macro life was stunning. The reefs in this area are the best I have ever seen. The totality of fish on the reef was mind blowing on many of the dives. We dove the entire trip with a rash guard and swimsuit, we didn't need a wetsuit due to very warm water in all but one dive. Even the night dive the rash guard was sufficient. Some folks brought their own libations, which was a great idea, as the boat does have quite a large markup for wine and spirits. We also did a few land-based small trips, which were nice breaks from the boat and with some excellent history as well.

- Beautiful scenery. Amazing diversity of aquatic life. Well managed diving, despite being a large vessel with 22 divers.

The best crew and boat
It's hard not to love diving and eating with new friends in a beautiful part of the world. Nice variety of dives with beautiful and colorful reefs, schools of fish, and creatures of every imaginable shape and size. Cruise Director Evan adjusted plans to be sure everyone got to view hammerhead sharks, even though they are harder to find in November (they say they are plentiful in September).

7 days of fun and adventure at Komodo!!
The professionalism and service with a smile! The cruise director prepared us well for what to expect at each dive site - best dive briefings peppered with a sense of humor! Choice of dive sites and really informative about each site. This is the best liveaboard and dive crew that one could ask for - designed by divers for divers, nothing superfluous and everything works!

- The entire team, from the ship's crew, the service crew and of course the dive crew - outstanding job!!. The cabin is nice and spacious, not luxurious, but functional and well kept. The boat itself, from the dive deck, dining deck and upper deck - well kept, and nicely designed.

Spacious boat
The rooms and bathrooms were probably the most spacious we've seen on a liveaboard. I also really appreciated that the dive groups were small (ours was 4 divers total) and appropriately grouped based on skill level, interests and personalities. The food was good, but sometimes pretty repetitive, and nothing about it blew us away. We were also somewhat disappointed in the drink selection. Other boats we've been on have offered "happy hour" cocktails and a decent selection of beer and wine, but here there was only a very limited selection of beer, and you could buy a few wines by the bottle. The diving itself was good, but not great. This may be a symptom of Komodo as a whole though, as opposed to anything to do with the boat or guides. According to one of the guides, a lot of (illegal) over-fishing occurred during Covid, and the area hasn't really recovered, so the wildlife isn't as abundant as it used to be.
