The MV Raja Ampat Explorer is a fantastic budget-friendly option to explore the regions of Raja Ampat and the Banda Sea. The 33.5m M/V Raja Ampat Explorer caters to 14 guests in 7 cabins. Each double or twin cabin is en-suite with a hot shower, washbasin, and toilet and is fully air-conditioned. Social areas include an air-conditioned lounge with an entertainment system and dining seating for 14 guests. Meals are served buffet-style and are a mix of Indonesian and European dishes. A partially-covered sun deck is also a great place to relax and unwind with a beer whilst enjoying the stunning Indonesian views.

Divers can enjoy up to 3 dives a day around the incredibly diverse area of Raja Ampat or the Banda Sea on a 7 or 10-night cruise. Raja Ampat itineraries include visits to Misool, Fam, Arborek, Mansuar and depart from and return to Sorong. Banda Sea trips leave from and return to Ambon and offer something for everyone, sea snakes at Gunung Api, amazing critters in Ambon to hammerhead sharks around Banda. Onboard the dive facilities include individual gear-up stations, an onboard compressor, a dive platform with shower and camera setup, and charging stations. I hesitated a little when I initially booked this liveaboard because there are only a few reviews. But I booked it anyway, as the dates suited me. This turned out to be one of the best liveaboards. The diving is amazing. Manu, our dive guide was extremely experienced and when the extra mile when we requested for things. The eye for detail is amazing. The food is a mixture of Indonesian and chinese. Gali was a good cook who always never said no to whatever food request I threw his way. Thank you for this trip

Awesome trip

We unfortunately experienced delays getting to the boat, but the staff kept in touch the whole time and made us feel very welcome once we got there. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble and everybody had a smile on their face. The boat is old and a little dated but clean, comfortable and has everything you need. The food was great and nobody went hungry. A couple of issues with Nitrox supply and some air conditioning units not working properly, but they got sorted promptly. The diving is amazing and the dive guides were incredible. I don't know how they find all the amazing things they pointed out to us, from Wobbegong sharks to tiny nudi branch's and shrimps. There were times where the currents were quite strong but the guides help you out and look after you. The absolute highlight of the trip for me, has to be the huge Manta Ray (3-4m) at the cleaning station for at least 7 minutes in front of us. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough.

Great diving in raja ampat, both western and indonesian meals, if are up for some chilli, can even have a taste of crew food. dive sites are checked out for current etc before going, dm’s are experienced and knowledgeable and can communicate in english. books onboard for identifying fish. can rest in cabin, restaurant or on upper deck between dives. crew takes good care of camera equipment and dingy is always there to get you after dives. lots of water to take showers. nitrox available!

Sitio de ensueño para buceadores

En general es un sitio muy bonito para bucear. El tiempo acompañó y sólo hay que tener en cuenta que, los días posteriores a la luna llena, la corriente es más fuerte. No me gustó la condescendencia con la que me trataron a veces los guías. Tal vez por ser una mujer que viaja sola, me pareció que se olvidaban que era una cliente más, igual que los demás. Agradecí a Endro (pido disculpas si no escribo bien su nombre), el encargado del motor, lo bien que me trató un día que me encontré francamente mal. En general, la tripulación fue muy amable, lástima que las personas con las que al final pasé más tiempo, fueran las que me hicieran sentir más incómoda.
