Points forts

Highly recommend and a fabulous trip!
This was our first liveabaord and it was fantastic! The crew made us always feel safe when diving with great briefings and the ease of gearing up to dive made it super easy. Great dive equipment that is well maintained. Nice cabin accommodations and plenty of room to relax. The food was amazing as the chefs truly outdid themselves. Even with the stormy weather the dive crew always found safe places for us to dive. The trip director was fabulous! Enjoyed the after dinner ocean talks, learned a lot!

SoF crew bent backwards to keep us experientially fulfilled--Great service. Wonderful guides. Fantastic food!
I signed up for two (2) almost back-to-back trips, a 7 day and a 5 day package with a 72 hour break to visit friends on the Gold Coast. Spirit of Freedom (SoF) has unusual offerings of shorter, medium and longer trips, whereby grouos can move quickly on and off the vessel by way of a small 12-seater shuttle flight. This allows for short trips for folks who don't have a lot of time or what just a short excursion. The first, longer week was perfect in terms of weather so we were able to experience the full"Trifecta" of diving three reefs in the Coral Sea, which is available not more than six times a year. We dove in stunningly clear waters (100 feet visibilty in some instances); saw fantastic topological underwater features, wonderful critters of every kind. The second shorter 5 day week was more complicated. A sudden storm forced SoF to turn around midway to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea, so we had to find interesting alternative options along the southern portions of the Great Barrier Reef, taking us down as far as Ribbon 3 (most of our initial diving was along Ribbon 8-9 of the GBR before heading out to the Coral Sea). Bravo to our captain and crew for 1) keeping us safe; 2) working hard to find alternative dive spots; 3) entertaining us lavishly during downtimes as we awaited stormy weather to subside, and giving us an additional night dive to make up for a lost dive due to inclement weather....and the food was simply amazing!

EPIC trip and I would recommend Spirit of Freedom to all my diving friends.
First live-aboard experience. ;-) Could not have asked for a better experience. From day 1, very organized with the luggage, the daily schedule and communicated very well with all of their expectations. The team worked together flawlessly for us to have a great time. They had systems in place and had the tanks re-filled almost as fast as we boarded the boat. Safety was high priority on their list and it showed through being clear with expectations and double-counting people after a dive. My favorite thing was having fins put on at the bottom of the steps - made me smile. Diving was great - luckily the weather was wonderful and we were one of the lucky ones to complete the trip without any changes or accommodations due to weather! So basically, the trip is eat, dive, eat, dive, rest, eat, dive, eat, dive, rest. It was a picture perfect week to say the least.

- The STAFF was Phenomenal - very friendly and very knowledgeable. The FOOD - both chefs that we had on board were AMAZING - and they even catered to dietary needs which was a real plus. May sound silly - but not having to touch fins - Loved our "Prince Charming" at the bottom of the third step.

Great Crew Services
We had Stateroom. Bed, room is comfortable except it's noisy. AC doesn't work right often. At least once a day, AC does not cool unless temp set point is reduced to 2 degree lower than current room temp.

“Finderella service made us feel like royalty!
Non stop activity and food! The captain did all he could to keep us out of bad weather and we were able to go to different dive sites than the “norm”. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff! We got to relax and dive and they took care of our gear after every dive which made us feel special. The “Finderella” service was top notch!!! Loved every minute!
