Ga mee met de Sokaraja phinisi voor een fantastische, voordelige liveaboard trip in Komodo, Indonesië. De routes zijn 3 tot 5 dagen lang, met 2-4 duiken per dag. Tijdens het verkennen van het Komodo National Park kunnen gasten duiken met reuzenmanta's, rifhaaien en schildpadden, maar ook mooie dieren zien zoals inktvissen, zeepaardjes en kikkervissen tijdens een macro-nachtduik. Naast duiken is er de kans om de flying foxes te bezoeken, te wandelen met Komodovaranen op Rinca en zonsondergangwandelingen te maken op Gili Lawa Darat.
De Sokaraja phinisi heeft accommodaties voor elk budget. Er is een slaapzaal met 6 eenpersoonsbedden; voor degenen die een beetje extra privacy willen, zijn er 2 privé cabines met tweepersoonsbedden. Alle gasten delen twee toiletten en 3 douches met stromend zoet water, en basis toiletartikelen zijn aanwezig. Vers bereide Indonesische gerechten worden in buffetvorm geserveerd in de openlucht eetruimte, die een prachtig uitzicht biedt op de dramatische Indonesische landschappen. Such a wonderful experience that I did it twice in a row!
This was an excellent trip and experience, I actually did it twice in a row. Great food, and lots of it. Excellent service from the crew and dive guides. The were so helpful and obliging, even helping the divers put their fins on. I did my Advanced Open Water cert on the boat, which was a great value and my instructor was amazing. He really helped me become a better diver with improved buoyancy and control. I always felt safe and the guides always follow the appropriate safety rules. They give a really detailed briefing about the dive sites before each dive. And the dives were spectacular, I got to see a lot of creatures big and small. The dive guides are experts at finding the sea creatures and were enthusiastic when the divers found cool things too. I think the only tiny drawback was that sometimes it got a little cramped when getting gear on or off because the deck space is small.

5 star diving with 3 star service
The three dive guides were so experienced and great at spotting both small and large creatures. The food was amazing. The boat crew were helpful if asked but did not go out of their way to help you on and off boat, set up your gear, or carry any luggage when entering and leaving boat. This was a budget liveaboard so the service was low expecting that you would not tip. But the dive guides were so much better than on my fancy, great service liveaboard in Raja Ampat. So it was wonderful where it counted. Unfortunately the power went out every night from 2am to 6am so when your fam stopped blowing you were very hot. Many people went outside to sleep. However the cushions were covered up with a tarp, not leaving many spots. The highlights were the guide letting us look in the grass for 30 minutes in search of a Sheep Slug, the baby white tip reef sharks and the 9 mantas we saw.

Great liveaboard in Komodo that wont bust the budget
Time aboard the Sokaraja was fantastic! The boat and amenities are good for the price point and it never felt too crowded with a group of 9 divers. The food was always great and enjoyed every meal/snack that we had. The dives were incredible (it is Komodo afterall) and the crew did their due diligenece to schedule the dive times to account for current and crowds. There are 3 dives/day but small additional excursions that allow you to have a good land-based experience in Komodo as well. Really enjoyed the morning seeing the dragons at Rinca, hanging out at the sandbar, and the sunset hike on Gili Lawa! Cannot say enough about the crew! The dive guides have an infectious energy in and out of the water and the "dry crew" are always willing to help and are really thoughtful in operations to make the journey as comfortable as possible (e.g. the little things like running the compressor during the dives when we are underwater so that it is not disruptive while on deck).

Terrific even as snorkerlers
Brought my 9 year old kid, he had a great time. Both of us were snorkelers but enjoyed the trip/ camaraderie. We were assigned our own snorkel guide, Eric and he was terrific at spotting dugong, manta ray, moray eel, etc. Equipment for us was great. Food was good and plentiful. Yetno, Suril worked their butts off not only as dive guides but also in engaging the customers on the boat. Really memorable time for myself and my son.

So much diversity on dives - some were wild current with pelagics, mantas and sharks, some were as coral rich and diverse as Raja Ampat, each dive had amazing features… octopus play, cuttlefish mating, sharks hunting prey… weeks worth of dive experiences in 5 days. The Sokaraja has a great crew and wonderful spirit.

Amazing diving, DMs, boat, and crew
We had an amazing 4 days on the Sokaraja. Everything from the dive masters, to the crew, to the food was perfect. Our DM Luca (and shoutout to Erik!) kept us safe in the strongest of currents and we had amazing dives every time. The crew and chef kept us constantly fed with great food and the best sambal ever. The dive briefings were so fun - 100% recommend!
