M/Y Scuba Scene is the benchmark for premium liveaboards
Top notch 5* liveaboard with amazing service on board. Truly remarkable and appreciative of the level of detail to which you're being looked after and how well the logistics are arranged. The assistance for getting into and out of the water is superb. Food was delicious and plenty, while freshly grounded coffee (and tea) was always available upon request. Boat itself and cabin were spacious, in great state and kept clean. Room for improvement: the beds were hard and the ashtrays should be closed variants to avoid cigarette butts flying into the water. Unfortunately due to low temperatures and strong winds there was not much use for pool and jacuzzi, although diligently filled at every stop. The dive sites were well chosen and the order of dives felt well planned, also taking into account legal requirements for minimum certification levels (even to be attained during the trip). Unfortunately, some clearly underqualified divers were taking on guided trips with more experienced divers. Continuously needing to hold hands with the dive guides and the inability to maintain buoyancy for an independent safety stop is a serious concern to the whole group. Minus * for last point above and communication prior to departure. Although incorrectly claimed to be a matter between booking agent and me (and most prices clearly stipulated on their website^), I could not get full clarity on additional predictable, yet significant, charges on board to prepare my USD cash in advance. Turns out they do have a well prepared, itemised spreadsheet with conversion rates from USD to EGP and the opportunity to pay by debit or credit card at a very reasonable fee of 2-3%. Furthermore, incurred costs of attaining Advanced Open Water (AOW) could not be explained to a satisfactory level. In the end it feels I paid twice to both PADI and Scuba Scene to do the e-learning with the first prior to the trip and have the practical part in the water with the second. Internet is so sketchy on board that online learning during the trip is not a viable option. Finally, I would have liked to know well in advance we would be back in the port in the afternoon the day before the disembarking so I could have made other travel arrangements, while mindful of no-fly time. Now it was just a long wait onboard. This liveaboard definitely sets the bar at a very high level and, despite my negative remarks, I would still recommend M/Y Scuba Scene as one of the best options available on the Red Sea. ^https://scubasceneliveaboard.com/our-prices/

Great boat - needs more wrecks and less reef dives.
The crew, meals and room were very very good. The itinerary had us diving 3 - 4 times per day. The sites that weren't wrecks I felt were very much same same and so I would have liked more wrecks and less reef to keep it interesting. Two things I'd note about the boat 1. Hot water after dives for shower was regularly in very short supply. 2. Before I boarded the boat I wanted to change my Australian dollars in to Egyptian pounds. I was told I didn't need to do that as I could pay all charges (including crew tips by credit card) When it came to finalising my bill I found out that 14% of crew tips would be taxed if I paid by credit card. I was told by the cruise director that I could tip in Australian dollars only to be later told (after the cruise director had departed) that I couldn't. I insisted that the cruise director be contacted and the issue was handled. This back and forth was uncomfortable. Clarity of these processes upfront would have made it easier. Of the 3 guides I felt that only 1 (Batista) actively sort out things of interest for his divers. Along with a great temperament, Batista is a real asset to Scuba Scene. Ahmed, the cruise director gave great, detailed briefings and thankfully made some hard calls for divers that weren't prepared/qualified for some of the more challenging dives. At one or two of the briefings this though right was awkward. I don't know how this was communicated up front to these divers. On other boats the itinerary was set for the least experienced diver/s on board meaning that dives were missed. This wasn't the case on Scuba Scene.

Fantastic trip, big recommendation
It was a fantastic trip, and I am definitely going to return. There was a single thing to complain about and that was that some passengers found the mattress too hard.

Premium thoughtfully appointed liveaboard experience
A premium Liveaboard boat with spacious well appointed cabins. Locating the dining area below deck enables all cabins to be placed at or above deck level, which feels safer and allows for easier access.

Great trip despite the weather.
The strong winds changed the itinerary significantly but Elke and the crew did their very best to keep the trip as enjoyable as possible. The boat is huge with lovely big staterooms and lounge/dining areas...... lots of space to chill out and relax between dives. We'll be back for another trip when hopefully the weather makes it an even better experience.
