Barefoot luxury is the theme behind Mikumba Dua (of lost paradise charters) liveaboard Indonesia, having undergone an extensive renovation giving a contemporary twist to this traditional wooden boutique style phinisi. Mikumba Dua boasts the largest outdoor space found on any vessel in her class, spanning over 4 decks, allowing guests to indulge in alfresco dining under the stars while sipping away at their favorite drink or perhaps getting involved in some sunrise/sunset yoga or just lounging around on beanbags with a book. The main hub of the boat is the beautiful indoor salon, which also offers dining, a cinema room, a library, board games, or simply space for relaxation. There are 2 Master cabins on the upper deck, both en-suite and with their own private balcony, with a further 3 double/twin cabins on the lower deck sharing 2 bathrooms. All cabins are spacious and individually designed, embracing traditional local materials and fabrics.

Wow! My 5 days on Mikumba Dua was truly the experience of a lifetime!

I had an amazing experience on Mikumba Dua. As a solo traveller, it can be daunting to get on a boat with strangers for multiple days, but the passengers and crew felt like a little family. The mix of land excursions with the diving was amazing, it was nice to get of the boat for a little everyday and enjoy the surrounding islands. Food was fresh and healthy also. This was an incredible experience and I would stay on the boat again

Incredible

The diving is amazing of course. The boat is super comfortable. Not crowded, plenty of areas to either socialize or grab some alone time. The food was great with good variety and plenty of fresh fruit. The dovr guides were helpful and not overbearing. The boat staff were efficient and friendly. The owner was very interactive and kind and positive. It was a tremendously fun week - cannot wait to return. Would easily repeat the same trip without hesitation.

Fantastic Liveaboard Experience

I would recommend Mikumba 2 to anyone. With 10 divers and 2 DMs, it was the perfect size for diving Raja Ampat. They coordinated with other boats and smartly timed the itinerary to ensure we had most dive sites to ourselves. This was especially useful for sites with strong currents or where you’d want to hook in to watch the action at the head of the reef (I can’t imagine how chaotic it would have been diving some of the sites with 20 people). The DMs were great, Fadly kept us on schedule and was great at spotting nudis. Ardi really knows the different fish and talked with us for hours after dinner about the different fish and animals we saw. He’s also great at shooting video with his GoPro. Hugo (another DM/Cruise Coordinator) was fantastic and made sure that there was always something to do, kept us well-informed, and took care of any concern we raised. The DMs also worked with the less experienced divers in our group, making little adjustments and offering minor tips that really improved their bouancy. The food was also great — they gave us 4 hearty meals a day plus tons of snacks! Highlights were the Friwan Wall, Blue Magic, and Melissa’s Garden. We also saw Mantas and had amazing interactions with cuttlefish on our night dive (the bioluminescent plankton was so cool!). I got to see a gray reef shark, a white tip, and lots of black tips and wobbegongs. Damian (the owner) arranged our transit from Sorong to the boat which made getting there easy (it would have been difficult and confusing without the guide). It’s standard, so don’t worry. I just recommend coming in the day before so you are able to catch the 9am ferry from Sorong to Waisai
