Highlights
An 18-meter-long, supercharged, state-of-the-art sailing yacht, Eureka cruises the sparkling waters of the Whitsunday Islands. The Eureka takes guests on an authentic racing boat experience with a streamlined and smooth finish. Eureka can host 12 passengers onboard in 2 private double cabins and a spacious shared cabin. This boat has abundant space on the main deck with an aft deck that can be sheltered with a waterproof cover large enough to keep everyone dry, making it the ideal sailing yacht under all weather conditions. The air-conditioned saloon area has a flat-screen TV and a Netflix connection, doubling up as the captain’s navigation hub and indoor dining area where all meals are served by highly experienced crew members. The captain of Eureka is a seasoned sailor with 30 years of experience.
Eureka carries all snorkeling gear on board. The skilled crew leads snorkeling excursions to some of the most thriving fringing reefs along the inner parts of the Great Barrier Reef around the Whitsunday Islands. Apart from the white sandy beaches of the famous Whitehaven Beach and bushwalking trails to Hill Inlet Lookout, guests can escape to more secluded locations and visit hidden caves and other island lookout spots. Eureka offers guests a hands-on sailing experience, is suitable for everyone above 8 years of age, and can take younger children upon pre-approval.

Great people
The captain and his assistant were very knowledgable and friendly. The itinerary had to be flexible due to weather, but we were happy that we were able to go snorkeling. It was not as much snorkeling as I wanted, but I don't think the captain had much control over that. The food was fine - better than average on a small ship I would say. My main complaint was that sleeping was not comfortable. We had one of the cabins, but it was incredibly stuffy even with the door and window open. Other people had bunks that were right in hall near the bathrooms, so they did not sleep well, either. It was still a great experience overall.

A fantastic experience for excellent value
This is a wonderful way to see the islands - much more leisurely and personal than a larger day trip tour, yet more economical than chartering a totally private boat. You're in good hands with experienced skipper Mal and helpful guide/deckhand Tom, who run as safe, well-informed, and well-catered an experience as you could wish. I was so excited for this trip and it absolutely delivered. With three days at sea and a small group of fellow travellers, you have plenty of time to enjoy skimming the waves in breathtaking surroundings, exploring the islands at your own pace, and relaxing on deck under the stars. Bring sun-smart clothing (not just sunscreen) so you can enjoy the stunning views from the deck all day. We had two of three snorkelling sites completely to ourselves. There's plenty of wildlife to see as well (always the highlight for me!), including turtles, dolphins, sea eagles, small sharks and rays, and reptiles and birdlife on the islands. Take in every idyllic moment of this cruise - and take plenty of photos!
