A fantastic diving experience!

Mantas, Sharks, fantastic Coral, all sorts of reef fish, various turtles and strange and wonderful critters. The trip also included a hike to see Komodo Dragons. I initially booked this boat as a single diver and paid the surcharge for single occupancy. Had I not convinced a freind to join me I would have had the boat to myself. Now the two of us had a whole dive boat and 4 + 1 man crew to ourselves paying the full price for 2 divers. The scenery in Komodo is fantastic. We were there during the end of january, which is monsoon- and off-season, so we did have some rain, but not alot, and it is still around 26 to 28 C in the water and just above these temperatures in the air. The Pratiwi is a nice little boat, but in need of a refit and some equipment upgrades. Shower/toilet facilities are not quite what I would have hoped for... The crew was great though. I work at sea myself and I could easily recognize the expertise that the captain and his crew had both when it came to the vessel and the local conditions(conditions are difficult with all the strong currents in the area). The dive guide had over 10 years of experience of diving in the park and knew every rock. The food was simple but great and plenty of options for each meal. Do not expect a luxury resort type experience on the Pratiwi. In its current state, you will be disapointed. The luxury of this vessel is in its small size, allowing for a very personal experience and in the fantastic scenery both above and below the surface. I had a fantastic trip! I will return to Komodo. Tip: Bring some schampoo and soap :)
